Rosie is a 4 month old (DOB 8/2011) mis-marked mantle female with natural ears. She came to us from a poor situation where she’d been kept outside in a pen. Her foster home is her first indoor experience. At first she had zero manners when it came to being inside, she acted starved and was obsessed with food, counter surfing and even when we cooked on the stove. Those behaviors are a thing of the past now. She is still extremely food motivated. But no longer counter surfs and is respectful when you are cooking in the kitchen. Rosie does stick close just in case you happen to drop anything, but she now lies quietly with a toy while you work in the kitchen. She’s a very happy girl, gives lots of kisses. She’s happy to meet new people; we give high praise when she does this since she was slightly shy when she first came into rescue. She’s done very well out in public, both on the leash and meeting new people. In her foster home, she’s currently living with a large male Great Dane, an older female Beagle and an older male Chihuahua. Plus four cats & two birds, she’s fascinated by the cats, and could easily overwhelm a less than Dane savvy cat. However, if the cats are use to handling Danes, and give her a smack, she quickly backs down. She’s also currently living with a three year old boy and does very well with him. She is working on her bite inhibition, but can be a little mouthy. I would recommend placement with older children due to this. Rosie is very eager to please and responds well to verbal corrections and praise. She is working on her house manners and a new home would need to be vigilant. Rosie loves her crate and is happy to go into it; she’s currently being fed in it and will grab a bone and lay down in her crate with the door open. She’s loves to lay on the dog beds with the other Dane and is often curled up her favorite orange cat. Rosie has endless possibilities being so very young, she is so eager to please and exceptionally food motivated.
Rosie came to MAGDRL in November 2011.
Note: We have evaluated these dogs to our best abilities. MAGDRL and its volunteers can not be held responsibile for any inaccuracies or omissions in dog evaluations. A dog may react differently in each situation.
